Mr Mayor,,It's skinned out and in the freezer until the fur handler gets over her spring seal & pike fishing frenzy. Jeff we haven't gotten a gulo in a pole set yet as they are full of fox & otters, beats me why they climb excepting the fact there's a pile of them here.

I'm jealous. I'd love to catch pike that big and the seal....well, that's a given.

YJ: They are tough in a lot of ways. We have had them winter here where they had all they could do to keep a patch of water open. They just look out of place swimming around a small opening in heavy snow and below zero temps. When is your average ice out?

Thats crazy..is it mostly swans?..here the geese show up on April 21 or very near that every year, the Yukon wont go out until mid- late May,so they basicly hang out on frozen sandbars waiting, till it warms and melts some puddle water at least.
its still quite winter here when they show up,so we are able to hunt with snowmachiens for a couple of weeks before the ice is gone.

YK:
Almost all swans at first with a scattering of ducks. If there is such a thing as normal our river ice is usually out by the last week of April first week of May. We are out here earlier because of the rapids and that is what congregates the birds here waiting for the ponds etc to break up. I've see the ice last till end of May and also had winters where I went all the way to village for mail every month of the winter by skiff.
We are getting colder here the past few evenings so when the ice goes out of the lake again it will be the fifth time this winter which is a record for us.
