Thats how we save all that money out here in the bush- until you go online. Impulse buying goes to another level with the problem being the return policy. A 50 mile trip to return it.

Just got done fleshing two rough skinned beaver. First time using the grizzle getter on a complete job as it is designed and modeled to use by Clint Locklear on his video. Used a Caribou fleshing knife for pushing belly fat. Used about a 10 inch piece of hdp? 1inch thick water line for a temp beam. Kind of make shift but I needed it done in a pinch. Going to make a birch fleshing beam soon. I like the grizzle getter system better than using the Sheffield I believe. One thing I had a problem with on the Shef was not pushing the belly fat first with a dull blade. I would have a tendency to get into the softer belly and woops..

FT, I'll have to get you to give me a demo on that grizzle getter one of these day's. I've alway's clean skinned them but don't get to do enough beaver to get very good at it. Plus, I'm getting kinda tired whittling the
skin off of 'em.

Spek, you'll love the grizzle getter when you get used to it. I used it to take off that gnarly flesh on the neck of wolverines. On beaver, it's sweet.

Well just like my Sheffield, and Grizzle getter I got on Tman here from pm communication. I got the caribou as a gift from a tman member for turning him on to a great halibut fishing vacation here in Homer. Amazing the connections a guy gets here on tman with a little communication efforts.
I have been staking beaver in the freezer and it is now time to get with it. I like trapping them buggers a lot more than taking care of them.
Spec. the grizzle getter will be in action full force this spring. I have beaver stalked up to overflowing in the freezer. I will give you a call when we get out system worked out. Got my son and a friend line up to do a three way fleshing circus. Time to empty the freezer (s). ;0)
Going to send a bunch to Moyles and get line up to do a bunch of Chome tanned hides to sell for sewing projects. Might even get out my bonis skin sewing machine and see if I can get it working when all is said and done. Met Mike Reardon here in Homer and he has one and is willing to help me get mine lined up and sewing right. I have a pair of otter mukluks in the planning that I have wanted for years. Not that I don't have enough to do but would love to see if I could get my girls into sewing a bit.

Hey Ol'Blister, I read your letter to the editor of Alaska Magazine while I was waiting to check out at the groc store... Good stuff. Thanks for pointing out to the north face army how ridiculous it is when they assign human attributes to animals...

Len, sound's like you're hammering them. Yeah, give me a shout when you get in beaver skinning mode, I'd like to see that grizzle getter in action.
Thanks.

Good shot. Quite a contrast of the white fox in the dark trees. Our ptarmingan are really spooky now that most of the snow is gone and they are still all white. They spend a lot of time up in the alders so the foxes don't get them.
