I use the "Earthanchors," and love them. I attach them to 18" of chain though, no cable. All of my land traps have them attached. I just take whatever trap/chain set up that I want and add 18" of 2/0 straight link chain with an Earthanchor attached at the end with an S hook. I saw it here first. A fela from Texas that starts with an S, sorry I don't remember his name to give him the credit.

I'm sure I could get by just fine using 15" but I sleep better knowing I have 18". They hold rock solid. I got a handy stake puller at the convention that makes light work out of removing them.

Ron makes a great stake. I make one that is the Iowa style with the nut welded to it.

The berkshire earth anchors suck. They bend and aren't worth the price of the ferrules.

the ones that ron marsh makes and sells will hold a yote. so I guess they will hold anything else, they are cheap and the best part is you can reuse them.

I'll have to find his info. when I find it tomorrow I'll pm ya. I am not sure but I think he goes by Trapperron here, and he's from PA.

Get a hold of Nick Bower, he sells them cant remember his website, but his company is Bower Built, you can do a search for it.

i make my own out of steel tubing. been using them for about five or six years now and i've never had one fail. or be pulled up out of the ground. every trap i own has its' own earth anchor and about 18-20" of cable with it.

the grump.

I use fox hollows super stakes or bullet stakes some people call them. They are heavy duty and will HOLD! I am converting over to their new finned super stakes right now. I used afew last season and like them even better than the original.

Washer stakes otherwise pogo's. I agree if you use the pogo driver you have some that will stick but I make my own driver and never had one stick and I trapped in sand and mud last year and for .16 apiece you can't beat them.

I really like the pogo's, yaa once ina while they'll be one hang up but not any worse than the old open ended iowa disposable stakes did those bullet stakes look real good i ever find any i can afford i;ll have to give them a try too.like huntinglonewolf said .16 ea is hard to beat price wise.

Ron's cable stakes. If they can hold his sister's 212 pound Saint Bernard, they can hold anything you can trap. Easy in, easy out. I use them on all beaver snares also. ronmarsh@verizon.net is his email. Ron is also just one heck of a nice guy.

when you use the pogo's, do you have to straighten out the j-hook to slip it in the washer, or can the fit as they come pre-bent?

I've used them all at one time or another, settled on Pogos, super stakes are good as are Iowas, Berkshires just didn't work out for me.I've found that with a little filing on Pogos driver I very rarley have one stick and the driver and there very cheap and easy to use, plus I can go up or down in size depending on the conditions, thats a big plus in my book.....B.....
