I need to get a new wax bucket for doing my traps.The Home Depot only has galvanized ones.Can I use them or will it leave an oder in the wax?Thanks

Spend the few extra bucks and pick up a turkey fryer pot. They're not too expensive. Not so sure I'd use the galvanized

There is mine, it works great.

I used to use galvinized though, no problem with odor for me.

Look at Garage sales for electric turkey Roasters. They heat from the sides, are temp adjustable, will do 6 or more 1 1/2 traps at a time, and Have lids.

The only downfall is the amount of wax that it takes to fill them up. But its only a one time cost as the wax can be held over from year to year.

Large pots can be had fairly cheap at the dollar stores.

Big Lots usually has some ok buys in ss, as do the various dollar stores.

I bought an 4 pot set with lids at W-Mart a couple of years back for under $19.00. The set also had 4 ss cannisters w/lids. That's 16 pieces for little over a $1.00 each.

I kept the best waxing pot, and gave the rest of them to the ol' woman. She was tickled to death. (and I just had her traded for a golf cart!)

Most buckets, and some other larger containers have rings around the inside. This makes it a little harder to clean your wax.
I heat my container until the wax clump is loose, and dump it out.

After it sets-up again, I'll use a hand saw to remove the dark (dirty) wax at the bottom of the plug, and put the cleaned wax back in the pot.

Point is, with rings etc. built into the sides of the pot, I have to melt more wax in order to slide the plug out.

Hey ADC, I got one of those at my house be we use it to cook our fries lol. ~Dan~

I used a 15 gallon kettle I got at a resturant auction for years. It's on the right in the pic. I made a new one from a 15 gallon beer keg this summer. The stainless should hold up better and cut down the weight.

Bought a 16 qt stainless steel w/a lid at the Dollar Store for $5 the other day.
