Now I have never even seen an alligator outside of a zoo, but I have an idea.
Am I wrong or is it true that the best meat from a gator is the tail?
So if we cross an alligator with a salamander we could pull the tail off and they would grow a new one! It would be like shearing sheep!

Simple Dave. We (you) just rope the gators by the tail, dally and pull, then drag the tail to a nice safe place before YOU get off the horse and take the rope off the tail.
I would do it myself, but I'm getting to old to be riding and roping. I came up with the idea, do I have to do everything?

Should I cut it up into chunks and preserve with Sodium Benzoate or render it into oil. Never used it but I came into about 5#'s of the stuff. Pretty stout smell to it, could be a dandy bait down in a dirthole.
What say You folks. I like the oil idea. Matter of fact I'd really like to try it out some time. I've been wanting to head south for Gators soon this just might put me over the edge for next spring.

Now why would an Indian Proctologist be interested in Alligator Fat???
Maybe to slick up his gloves???
LOL.....
I bet either will work... The oil would probably go further, and then you have crackling to eat while you are out on the line...
Don't you know that would make some NASSSSTY cornbread...
Even Joleithia Jones wouldn't eat that stuff...
Well she may make a stuffin for her coon..... LMAO

I would be skeptical about its value way up her in upper Michigan. Back in the early 80's Floyd Mc Beth of Texas advertised a high powered lure with the base being ratlesnake and said no coyote would pass it. I met Floyd at the 1981 NTA convention at Marshalltown IA and he insisted I try a bottle of it. Every single coyote that got near the stuff avoided it, some tracks were even seen running from it. I don't know if because rattlesnake odor means danger and is unnatural here even though coyotes up here never seen or smelled one or if it was because it was too strong in odor like Floyd advertised. I do believe in the most part one sticking to things natural to their regions for best results. There are a few exceptions of odors that are universal in attraction regardless of where they are used like fish oil or beaver castor in a desert setting.

I don't know, Asa, but it could be the a rattlesnake emits an odor as part of his protection system. I know some toads and other reptiles do, maybe a rattlesnake does, too.

Anyone tried it? My hands crack and split open and bleed so bad during duck hunting season I have to keep lotion in my pocket and keep applying. That just keeps the cracking to a minumum, but they still do crack and bleed.
Maybe this is something to try?

I just found it on the net, and thought of Dave when I saw it...
Was looking for ideas for rendering gator fat and found that deal, it sure sounds like it might work better than utter cream...
My Later Father had the same problem with his hands and feet, mainly his feet, he went to the drug stor that a friend owned and he made him up some stuff to use, it worked great for a while, but then quit like everything else he tried...
His standby stuff was Corn Huskers lotion.....

yeah BB that has been my issue, I find something new and it works for a while, then after a year or so it quits working, and I have to find another.
