Depending on your poison it will only take a few cents to cure most of them.

Every now & then, they catch one of these creeps and they become very apologetic . I hope it isn't for reasopns of a lighter sentence but because they really are remorseful. Some of the folks released before show no signs of remorse once they get out of jail.

Man who raided South Jordan mink farm sentenced

SALT LAKE CITY — A self-proclaimed animal lover who raided a South
Jordan mink farm two years ago faced the family he had targeted,
during an emotional federal court hearing Wednesday.

"I can't really understand why you would think it's OK to come and
destroy our family's enterprises," third-generation mink rancher
Lindsey McMullin told Alex Jason Hall. "I wish you would have been
there with me to recover (the mink), to see the damage and destruction
it did to their lives."

McMullin said the August 2008 raid on his farm also hurt his family
psychologically, especially his children, who had nightmares and were
scared by phrases such as "ALF: We Are Watching" spray-painted on
ranch buildings.

U.S. District Judge Dee Benson allowed Hall, 22, to address the
McMullins before sentencing him to prison for pleading guilty to
damaging and interfering with an animal enterprise.

"Guys, you don't have anything to fear with me," a shackled and
handcuffed Hall said facing the family. "I truly express my deepest
remorse."

The Ogden man and William James Viehl, 23, of Layton, released 650
minks, destroyed breeding records and vandalized buildings on the
McMullin ranch. Viehl was previously sentenced to 24 months in prison.
He and Hall were ordered to repay the McMullins $66,753 in damages.
All but 50 mink were recovered, but several died after being hit by
cars or from stress after they were returned to the farm, McMullin
said. Others were dehydrated and lethargic.

Hall's apology prompted Benson to impose a 21-month prison term, three
months less than he originally had planned. The judge also ordered
Hall to not associate with the Animal Liberation Front or the Earth
Liberation Front. The press office for the Animal Liberation Front
posted a statement after the raid from "a local soldier out of Utah"
saying mink had been released and breeding records destroyed.

The judge wasn't impressed with a written statement Hall had submitted
to the court accepting responsibility for his actions, because the
statement mostly outlined Hall's disdain for the exploitation of
animals. Benson said he doesn't know if it's right or wrong to raise
mink, but it's legal, and no one has the right to terrorize people who
do it, "no matter how fervently we believe in something."

"I hope you mean it that you're not going to do this again," the judge said.

Hall called his actions that night a "huge mistake" and said he had
"failed to see the big picture."

"It sickens me to think something I did caused a child to have
nightmares," he said.

Hall, who has been held in the Davis County Jail for a year, said he
has learned his lesson. "I really don't want to risk losing my freedom
again."

McMullin said after the hearing that he accepts Hall's apology.

"We're not vindictive people. We're hopeful he puts this behind him
and moves on and becomes a productive citizen," he said.

The Salt Lake Tribune
Ogden man, 22, who released mink sentenced to 21 months
By Pamela Manson

An Ogden man who admitted releasing hundreds of mink from a South
Jordan farm in support of animal rights was sentenced Wednesday to 21
months in prison.

The term was three months shorter than U.S. District Judge Dee Benson
had planned to impose. The judge shaved off the time because of a
heartfelt apology by 22-year-old Alex Jason Hall, who faced his
victims in the courtroom and said: “You truly have nothing to fear
from me. I ask your forgiveness. I can assure you I’ve learned my
lesson.”

Hall earlier had pleaded guilty to one felony count of damaging and
interfering with animal enterprises by releasing about 650 mink on
Aug. 19, 2008, at the McMullin farm.

Under a plea deal, a misdemeanor charge of attempting to damage the
operations of the Mathews mink farm in Hyrum on Oct. 18, 2008, was
dropped.

Benson said Hall’s apology seemed sincere.

“What you did here today was quite remarkable,” he said.

Hall and co-defendant William James Viehl, 23, of Layton, were
indicted last year on the two counts. Viehl, who also pleaded guilty
to one count of interfering with animal enterprises, was sentenced in
February to two years in prison. In addition to the prison terms, the
two men must pay between them $66,753 in restitution.

Hall and Viehl released about 425 female mink and 225 male mink and
also took the animals’ pedigree tags, forcing the sale of the females
for their pelts, according to court records. Seven were killed by
vehicles, seven died from stress and about 20 were never recovered.

The men also spray painted “ALF,” for Animal Liberation Front, on a
barn and the words, “We are watching.” Benson said that action was
meant to terrorize people and it led him to reject a plea deal that
called for Viehl to serve a six-month term.

On Wednesday, Lindsey McMullin, who operates the farm, said, “Our
entire industry has been affected by this group that wants to destroy
our livelihood.”

He also said his family holds no animosity toward Hall.

Hall could complete his sentence soon; he already has served about a
year of his sentence while awaiting resolution of the case and also
can earn about three months off for good behavior.

I think that shows what kind of people they are. They're not vindictive, they feel justice is served, and they just want to leave it in the past and move forward. They don't take it personally, which is one of the big differences between us and the AR lobby. To them its personal.

Arsonist arrested in Sheepskin Factory fire
Matt Clough

GLENDALE - A Utah man previously convicted of setting a house on fire
has been arrested for fire-bombing the Sheepskin Factory in Glendale
in April.

The ATF arrested Walter Edmond Bond yesterday and he faces federal
arson charges in federal court this afternoon.

A U.S. District Court criminal complaint says a man was videotaped
walking to the factory on 510 S. Colorado Boulevard at 3:15 a.m., just
before the fire began.

The fire caused $500,000 worth of damage to the factory that ships
sheepskins out of state.

According to the complaint, Bond met with a confidential informant
yesterday in Denver and admitted to burning down the Sheepskin Factor,
a leather factory in Utah and a restaurant in Utah.

Bond said he was angry that the businesses profited from animals,
according to the complaint.

He also said he watched the fire burn and plans to set fire to the
Sheepskin Factory again since it reopened in another location.

Court records say Bond calls himself the "Lone Wolf" and said the
businesses all represent animals that wolves typically hunt.

In a letter posted on the Animal Liberation Front website written by
ALF "Lone Wolf", Wolf says the Sheepskin Factory fire in Denver was in
"defense and retaliation for all the innocent animals that have died
cruelly at the hands of human oppressors....Go Vegan!"

The ATF says Bond has a tattoo on his neck that reads, "Vegan".

In 1977, Bond set a house on fire in Mason City, Iowa and was
convicted of arson. He served time in prison, according to the
complaint.
