I have used both sizes of Cahaba's in the past, and they seem to work fine. For the past year or so I've been using the snake traps available on this website:

http://www.floridawildlifecontrol.com/snake-money.html

Check out David's snake stories.... some really good stories and many helpful tips.

Mr. Jameson you talking about buying the glue by the gallon and placing on your own cardboard?

No, the glue method is too messy and temperature sensitive to work with.I buy the 24 GRB catchmaster giant glue boards and cut them in 4 - 2" strips. I get two traps from each mat. In most cases you only need two strips per trap.

Then staple two of the strips onto a piece of pre cut luan or 1/4" plywood. Then hood them with cardboard. These are for indoor use. I make wooden ones for outdoor use with hinged lids and plexi glass windows for easy inspection and solar radiation effect.

I keep the precut luan/plywood pieces handy so making what I need is usually a fairly quick process. Some bases are a little smaller for overhead applications like on the sill plate etc. for the routeing points on top of the block walls of foundations.

I collect alot of old cardboard boxes and such for making the hoods to keep the particulate to a minimum that is prone to collect on the adhesive.

You can make these for under $3.00 each and do just as good a job as commercial ones.If you can get some advertising signs that are left along the road for elections. Those that were not picked up after the election they work great.

The newer type signs are a plastic corrugated material like cardboard and they make good bases and are water proof. If you get enough of them you can make the complete trap hood and all from the pieces with a little common sense construction.

A little tip on the cardboard box type snake traps and the postal shipping boxes.I use a small cut block of pine wood 2" x 2" or what ever the size is from top to bottom of the box and staple it in the center of the box on each end of the trap. This prevents the box from relaxing and collapsing contacting the adhesive and makeing the trap non functioning.

This happens alot particularly when these types of traps can be sitting in position for a while.
The black plastic bag covering is always a good idea to help solarize the trap for good attraction and reducing moisture draw to the unit particularly in damp outdoor and basement floor conditions.

That is why I went to the plastic corrugated cardboard or plywood bases to reduce the moisture absorption effect.

I would venture to say that, that job site had some snake activity. :)It also appears that the routing points all came from the right facing side of the trap. There may be some harborage areas to seek out for additional work possibly.
