I have a burning desire to get into adc work. But need some information. Is personal liability insurance the only kind of insurance you need.? And how do you charge for different things like mole control, or doing a bat exclusion job.? And what is the best way to get advertising out.? Any info, would be great. Thanks, Chad

You could buy a Franchise from Vexcon, (Billy the Exterminator) you will have to wear black clothes with skulls and drive a black truck, which is kind of cool. http://www.vexconinc.com/franchising/ LMAO..... Don't do it. Then everyone on the site will be complaining about you like they do about Billy.

Chad, are you comfortable driving to Minneapolis? From a quick look on the map, you seem to be in a fairly rural area. Not that there's not work in the rural areas but folks have a tendency to take care of their own problems there. It's city folk who need the help.
There is a place for ADC work in rural areas though. What kind of work are you looking for?

You don't need to drive to the cities. There is alot of competition there now. It might take awhile (1-3 years) to get enough business to do it full-time. Best to start out part-time, get your name out, get some experience. Do you have vacation homes in your area? Those are owned by the people from the cities. You might get some locals for things like Bats and squirrels getting into attics. Farm type people do alot of their own. Can you service enough towns around you to market to 30-50,000 people? That many people may have enough problems to get you going. If it has lot's of urban area.

What are the best ways you guys have found to advertise your adc business.? Truth is there is no answer to this question. What is best for me will not work for you. I have done a lot of advertising in a variety of ways. -classified ads -radio ads -flyers -business cards -wrote articles for newspapers -signage on vehicle -yellow pages -internet ads the list could go on for days. Try a variety of things and you will figure out what works in your area. I ask everyone who calls how they were referred to me. I also keep a log so I know what works and what doesn't. Some on here will say yellow pages don't work, others will say they are the only way. The one thing EVERYONE agrees on is that "word of mouth" is your best source.

You need to have Yellow Page ads for the elderly and a website for the now generation and that's probably all you need. If you're successful, "word of mouth" is the best!

I just placed my first newspaper ad today, for mole service. It was a small paper that almost everyone gets and targets the towns nearest to me. Plus 2 weeks for a 2"X4" ad was 1/5th the cost of a classified size ad in the city newspaper for a week.
A tip on radio ads. If you are advertising services such as mole removal where you are targeting a wealthier customer, you local talk radio station is the way to go. Talk radio listeners tend to have more disposable income than pop/rock listeners. Here a radio ad package on the biggest talk station is cheaper than that same tiny newspaper ad for one day

I have a talk radio station starting to run ads this Saturday during their "Expert Gardener" show. Starting this saturday and running through the end of may ran me $350 That is 60 second ads this and next saturday and 30 second ads the remaining 4 saturdays. I did 20 60 second ads over last weekend and coming up this weekend on a FM station and that ran me $400 Tomorrow I will put a ad in the local paper $20 for just a text classified ad for 1 week and I will also put an ad in a new paper that I haven't used before (not sure of cost in that one).

I don't know if I'd target the expert gardener show. If they are dedicated to gardening enough to take time out of a Sat., they probably take care of their problems on their own. I'd target the Rush, Hannity, Dave Ramsey, etc... listeners. Lots of business men sitting in their offices with their radio on!
A personal experience with this. I import car service center I delivered to, would run a ad, during the heart of the talk day, for two weeks and fill their lot for a couple months. Then when the lot would start to thin they'd run the ad again.
