I didn't think I'd be trapping Beaver this up coming season here in PA but while trapping coon and mink I've seen tons of beaver sign and even caught a small one in 1 1/2 coil spring that I let go without a problem, so now I'm excited about trying out beaver trapping. Anyway... My question that I'd like to have somebody answer is: Apart from drown sets and conibears, how do I "dispatch" a live beaver, perhaps caught on dry ground, etc. Will a .22 hole devalue the pelt dramatically?

No, it won't.

I wouldn't think so. I mean look at any beaver fur garment... find me the head on any one of them. I figured one more small hole there is just another hole on a non-utilized part of the fur.

We don't make a lot of money, but we sure eat good!

A 22 to the brain is very humane and doesn't devalue the pelt.
