You Might have to copy and paste the link. Here is part of what it says. I suppose that it depends on what "desert" means. Some other sites claimed that Canada has no deserts. A GOOGLE search for Okanagan Valley BC will bring up a lot of information about the area. However I did not find any other reference describing it as a part of the Sonoran Desert. I believe that the "Sonoran Desert" is a geographically described area of the Southwesern U.S. and parts of Mexico- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonoran_Desert . First pic is a Colombian Boa often called a "Red Tail Boa" though they are not true red tails. Second pic is not clear enough to tell but most likely a black rat snake.

OK, now that we got that right!

I always tghought it was a black rat snake. Someeone told me that they don't grow over 6 ft., which this one was, and that it had to be an Indigo, which I've never seen one.
This one was well over 6 ft. and payed $135. to remove it plus do the seal up!

Black rat snakes that have had a good life so to speak can exceed 72 plus inches as I have caught them and captured a few over the years that were documented as to length with a tape. 78" is the largest I have personally measured and released.
A beautiful specimen it was.

I have ever seen an Indigo snake in my part of the world as of yet.I believe they are more prevelant to the south east coastal region.Their scale pattern is quite different then a black rat snake.

I thought you might enjoy this from the local paper.
They also have caught a 3 lb pirahna and a 4 plus foot alligator from the same section of river.

People with released exotic/escaped pets or the flush down the toilet deal that some evenually end up in our water systems.

The people in that area must have some really huge toilets.

I'm glad they are cracking down on that stupid mess. SOme things should be outlawed altogether unless there is lots of training and licensing involved. There should be no private individual ownership of this type of animal, tigers, boas, lions, wolves, etc.

Lt. Grey, remeber all the old westerns when they would talk about high desert and high desert plains (which is where the scrub and trees would grow). An example is Santa Fe NM at 7,000 feet about sea level it is "high desert" and norther Santa Fe is " high desert plains".

I don't know what the elevation in BC is but if these plants and critters can live in Santa Fe, I would imagine they would live anywhere with similar conditions.

I bought a hat band from a guy and it was a green rattler that the guy called a "plains rattler". Is this what is found around the Dakotas and BC?

I don't see much in a state where I never half to worry about looking before stepping over a log goin to a beaver [Please excuse my language... I'm an idiot] in shorts and sneaker to trout fish. But I watch for them when I'm out west or in MO.

I've been to the desert at high noon...
There aren't any rattlesnakes out at that time.
They're all in some rock crevis' some where in the shade, which if I'd had any sense, would have done likewise!

Yep you are right the Senorian desert is a small geographic area but the dry desert climate conditions continue right up the spine of the continent to where we are here. Drier and hotter than than the back door of [Please excuse my language... I'm an idiot] in the summuer and has been known to get down to -20-30 in the winter.
