while honey itself is stable forever ... I do not personally think it would act well as a meat bait preservative ... it would perhaps act as well as glycerine (and I am not suggesting glycerine is a preservative) ... in the way that although not a preservative, the thick syrupy nature of both substances coat the bait blocking air/oxygen from the surface of the meat ... thus only slowing down the rate of decomposition ... giving the illusion of it preserving

lol ... just read this after typing it ... man oh man, I kicked out a lot of big words for a late Friday night smile

What PS is saying(I think) is that it might appear to preserve meat temporarily, but it isn't lasting. Sodium benzoate would be the thing to use.
