You guys think 11 ga, wire is strong enough for a beaver drowner? I need to make some 10 footers. Either that or I was going to use electric fence wire, thats some strong stuff.

11 gauge is all i use and haven' had a problem yet. just check it every now an again after catches.
never tried the other wire .

i use the 3/32 cable drowners or 1/4 cable nice and fast setting easyer to work with than wire i think just my 1 cent good luck on the spring beaver. thanks lee

i have the cable drowners to lee, but they are only 6 footers, i need some 10 footers like now, thats why im considering wire.

I don't use either. I switched to drowning rods. Never go back to wire or cable.

It should work fine. Just make sure to check it carefully after every catch, as it will require more frequent replacement than cable.

9 or 11 ga will work great on beaver and otter ... just make sure ya check ya wire after each catch ... but im sure ya know that if ya have used 16 ga on coon .... i use 14 ga on coon, mink, rats .... good luck
