Although I can't remember having this problem before I did this modification, I did it on all my Duke 1.75s to ensure that the pan will never get caught in the levers.

You will need #10 steel bolts, 1/2" long. I get them at Lowes. They are similar to the bolts used to fasten trap pans...but are steel. I also use #10 steel washers.

Take one nut and thread it onto the bolt all the way to the head.

Insert it into the hole in the crossframe through the bottom.

Add a washer, another nut...then tighten. The modification is complete.

great idea !!! i always swapped my 1.75 pans with my 1.5 pans felt it cut down on toe catches on the 1.75 and a lil larger pan for mink on the 1.5 .... but i REALLY like your idea !!

Thanx for the tip, even one mechanically challenged like myself can do that. I have several dozen of those traps and had the pan stick only a couple of times, but thats too much.

Good tip... I tac weld the nut on mine because I'm doing other work and have the welder running. It's worth the time to do.. I'll make you cry seeing the jaws barely raised and the pan depressed between the levers by a $300 cat...

Brad, I never tried it with a 1.5. I'm sure something similar to that setup will work even if not exactly like the one shown for the 1.75. I see you are from Millmont...do you know John Hummel?

Steve, I had some traps I installed PIT pans on and welded a nut on. Worked great.
