I have an abundance of deer steaks that we will not be eating. I used a different meat market to process my deer I killed this year and when they wrapped it, they did not use cellophane. Just butcher paper and the crap looks freezer burt and we ain't eating it. My question is_ could this be ground up and made into a coyote or bobcat bait? I hate to let it go to waste.

Illegal in some states. Check your regulations.

I use it as bait. I let it set out for about 3 or 4 days. Let it start smalling right.

I asked about using freezer burnt meat before and Asa advised against it.

If you taint it a little and add Paul's bait solution, I'll venture a bet that the critters will never know that it was freezer burned.

If it's legal...sure.

Grind it up....let it taint slightly...add a little green castor if you wish...put in mason jars with lots of borax.

Try it on mink for a change up (if you trap an area for an extended time). A deer hunter droped a deer carcus in the
creek-way and the mink & coon feasted on what was left untill I showed up. I pushed the deer carcus all the way into the water. I then put 2 baited pocket in with fish. Caught 7 mink & 4 coon in the short time I trapped there. Point being deer meat makes very good bait! Those mink & coon had the reason to be there, They like deer too. I have seen where mink will drag a deer bone part for some distance. Minnow

Grind it up and eat it yourself, as sloppy joes, hamburger helper, chili or spicey meat loaf.
