Dave kind of a preference thing really.

The victor rat trap is considered in our state to be a kill trap. I think that would be the best definition. Meaning you only have to check the trap every three days. Where a leg hold trap like a #1 you would have to tend everyday.

As far as what works better. Well the rat trap you can place the pan closer to the hole than a leghold. For when the weasel jumps in and the trap is pretty sensitive to go off.

I am making a bunch with a #1 leghold and the main reason I am doing this is where I am setting my traps I have a good chance to catch a mink or a weasel. Just more of a universal trap for more than one target animal.

I also will say the rat trap is much better in the aspect of damage to the weasel. Not saying legholds ruins the hide but I have had less damage. Mostly blood.

I hope I answered your question. If your strictly going after weasels I would go with the rat trap.

That's pretty cool!!! Did you happen to get pics?

I think 2poor has done this before. It's pretty amazing what those traps will hold.

My wife's not working this weekend and she's into photography and was hoping we would have time for her to teach me how to do pictures.

All I got to say is it had better be easy for this computer dummy.

Good Job on the rat. We got a little warmer weather so maybe those darn weasels will move some.

I picked up some more boards today I was going to make some more boxes. I might even set some out next week. My 8 year old has school but I guess I could play around with some weasels to.

I just got all of is skinned and dried. Finished up on his minks as well. So I guess since I'm caught up might as well try to get some more.

Were going to start tanning them next week. Kind of a father and son project we'll see how it goes.

Ha the student might become the teacher!!!

I haven't done any before. But I did my research and I think I got a good understanding.

We'll have fun I'm sure.

My son isn't racing snowmobiles this winter so we both got into trapping more it's been great.

It's cool to see him do more than race. He's races quads, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles for the last 4 years and this year he got into hunting grouse and now trapping. A lot cheaper than racing!!! LOL

Amazing what those traps hold.

trapperMN did you have that in a box or nailed to a post? I see a nail through the trap.

Nice job!! Make sure you clean the trap pan up really good before reusing you don't want to stain your weasel hides.

You got my vote for best trapper of the day!!!
