I too will try to tape my traps setup with PVC and Aspen. I have them setup on our pool table now ready for taping.

I love this info that is coming out on underice sets!!!!!

The PVC can be cut to the size you like at your Leisure and holes drilled to fit your trigger wires... just load 1 or 2 pieces onto the trap triggers and bend.

Hang the Trap below the Ice with light wire from each spring loop.... But make sure and add a 2nd additional safety Cable or at least a heavy wire, that goes above the Ice to your Cross-Sticks..... In the spring durring Ice breakup or fluctuating water levels, the cable should be extednded to reach something very secure on the bank.

The Appeal of the Baited set Gets better and better the longer the beaver are trapped underIce with their feed pile that eventually stales near springtime.

I would be interested in seeing under ice beaver poles set with foot holds. pictures would be appreciated

Who uses under water fishing cameras to check sets?
I know fellows do for bucket otter sets in 20 feet of water. beaver?

thank you conibear 1 i like that video ny has trigger restrictions that kinda restrict how imaginative i could get but the set with the pvc wired to the bottom should work great thank you, and keep the rest of this info rolling very very helpful

I been trying to do couple under ice beaver sets with 330s and potato shoved up the triggers and it looks like they've been chewin on it the i come back a couple days later and the traps set off.. Does anyone have any suggetions on what i could do to catch em or what?

jordan it may be a muskrat tripping and chewin the potatoe they like them too. i have used pvc, aspen/poplar, corn cob, potatoe, thay all work but i do find a few fired traps and no matter what it is for bait i find the fall and spring are better. where as the dead of winter the runs with a 330 work the best.

It would be great to get some videos on underice snaring on this thead for all to learn more about it.

I've never used my Aquaview to check traps. But, I have used it to find the entrances to houses so I could set my traps in the right place.

How far from hut are the feed beds normally? This is my first year with the under ice beaver trapping. In NY we have to be 15 feet from the hut so I am not sure in what direction to head. The spot I found yesturday has a lot of sign but I didnt get to scout before ice over and the ice sucks now to see the runs so I am not sure where to set. Headed out tomorrow to put some baited sets around the hut. Hopefully we will connect.

In my area you can see the feed piles sticking out of the ice a little. But we don't get allot of snow usually either. Look for spots that have allot of small branches bunched up under the ice set on the edges of it.
