From what I understand super glue was originally developed to hold skin together for medical purposes. I have heard the same thing...that it was developed by the military for medics during Vietnam...

There is a product called Liquid Skin that you apply by brushing it directly into and over the wound. It has a built in antiseptic and can be applied to most injuries gotten in the fur shed.

ouch, what happend there? This happened last year. I was shooting at a deer with a S&W .50 Magnum handgun. I laid my thumb on cylinder where it meets the barrel. The pressure blast blew he end of my thumb off. It took 11 stitches to sew it back on.

Hospitals use super glue instead of stitches expecially on kids. It's less tramatic I guess. The only difference is "super glue" costs a buck a the dollar store and the hospitals charge 100 bucks for "derma-bond"

Construction workers have carried the super glue in the first aid kit for years! Cut my finger with a skil saw last year. Grabbed the super glue, squirted a drop, two min later.... back to work!

Sullivan, the book that s and w gives you with there gun cleary states keep your hand away from the barrel cylinder gap, I saw one picture in a magazine where the someone did that and he was actually going to sure S and W. Which is another way to bankrupt the gun industry.

You guys are on the money. Super glue (cyanoacrylate) and Dermabond (Octly-cyanoacrylate) are very similar, but dermabond is more pliable.
Just watch what you do with this stuff, as it can create a mess with your laceration.
The way I was taught to use Dermabond was to approximate the wound edges together and then apply the glue. Don't get it down in the wound. And don't start applying until you have stopped the bleeding with direct pressure.
Another tip on Super Glue:
Works GREAT as fletching cement for making arrows. I use the Martha Stewart brand from Walmart (3tubes for $1.50) vs. fletching cement sold at the archery shop for $6.00/tube.
Only difference... its a little runnier. Never had a fletch pull off my carbon arrows and that's on multiple pass-through shots with the same arrow.
Later.
