i have been using a fruit paste bait for fox and coyote for a few years now and it works pretty well early season but i was thinkin about adding some stuff to it to kinda spice it up and try to make it better.

anyone have any suggestions on some things i could add to it to maybe make it a little more attractive to fox and coyote?

I was looking at your fruit base part, castor is always a winner for the greys I trap they seem to like molasses and fenugreek as well. I was thinking of using mice for a lure base this upcoming season.

the fruit base bait works pretty good here early season for me.

are season opens october 15 so its still pretty warm out and you find alot of fox and yote poop with seeds in it that time of year

honestly, I don't think I have or would ever consider combining castor and melon oil ... but who knows maybe I'm missing something? smile

it's just my opinion/suggestion ... but if the fruity bait is working for you early ... good leave it alone ... probably better off coming up with something entirely different and also consider something with enough kick to handle the colder later part of your season

it is workin good early season, just was tryin to maybe get a few ideas

when the temps start dropping below freezing at night the meat baits start workin better, i need to come up with a meat based bait for colder weather too. been usuing different brands of comercial baits for cold weather but i would rather make my own.

I pretty much 2nd the second part of Possum Skinner's reply. It's fine to experiment with the original, but it's probably to your benefit to come up with a completely different formula.

Like possum says, if it works don't mess with it!
Personally, I have never seen the results I desired from any fruit based lure or bait. Asa
