While i agree with the testing of products, i leave the testing to the makers.
Being that i live 2 hours from my testing ground, i dont do it. If i test something, i put a trap in front of it.
That was the reason for the bait and lure thread, to help edcuate me in choosing some of the best products out there.

danny look on american trap talk there is a lure and bait review board that night help you were trappers vote and comment on what and will not work in thier area .
i fully understand your reason for testing but if you get the chance try it .it will teach you a lot more about the animal, location changes and the poduct you use

I have a place i maybe able to test some, had some traps stolen there this year.
I couls put a camera on the tree to watch what they do.

I use bait and lure/urine - it all depends on the animal.

For marten & fisher, if you don't use both bait & a strong lure - I wish you luck.

Coyote & fox I use bait and a small amount of a home made gland lure - for really cold weather a wee touch of skunk is added to the lure. Bait is moose or deer liver if available, if not I cut a red squirrel into three pieces and use fresh in a dirt hole set. Flat sets I normally use only urine.

For cats a skunky lure with fresh bait (Snowshoe hare or beaver) in cubbies.
