I thought I would post this because of the interest shown in the recent post re: a .243 Winchester round malfunctioning in a model. 66 Remington rifle.

These things sometimes happen as a result of manufacturing as evidenced by a rifle chanbered for the .256 Winchester.

I really like the .256 Winchester cartridge. The Marlin model 62 "Levermatic" rifle was the only rifle chambered in this caliber. I owned two of them, and cartridges fired in both rifles regularly had split cases. Turns out that the majority of these rifles split cases as the the rifles were made with oversize chambers.

Maybe someday, I'll have a rifle made in the .256 Winchester. It was, IMO, a fine little "truck rifle".

Later,
45/70,
RKBA!

Do you make the cases out of 357 brass? I know a few that do.

I corrected the title, but not before a couple of you caught it.
Sorry.
I fired both factory, and fire formed and resized brass. Possible that if I had only used the fire formed brass, I might have eliminated the problem. However, when they were splitting 40+ cases of of a box, there were few cases left to reload.
Again, sorry for the error.

Thompson/Center used to make some barrels for the CONTENDER that were in the 256 WINCHESTER. I don't know if they still do or not though. Maybe in the Custom Shop you could find one???????
