I hate newer country. I don't like the older country, either. I like the country from the 80's and 90's. Can't stand willie. Not stuck on Conway. I like Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, George Strait.
I don't know a thing about the music industry, but I've noticed something in the past few years....
no one sticks around. EVERYBODY is a flash in the pan now. Why is that? I liked Terry Clark. She was successful right off the bat, but then she evaporated. That is just an example, but they all do that. There are very few people who came out 6 or 8 years ago and are still out there making songs. Why? No money in it???
I hate Rascal Flatts. Homo wanna be's.
My kids like Taylor swift. I spent hard earned money on one of her CDs for my kids. talk about sacrifice!!

They grow up?

They start wanting more out of life?

Perhaps start a family?

Maybe some of them went and got a real job.

I like the old stuff and some of the new.

Willie, Waylon, DAC and of course Johnny Cash. I hadn't pulled out my Cash CD in awhile, but last night picking the daughter (10 yrs old) up from practice, Johnny came on (Ring of Fire) and she immediately knew who it was and remembered the words. She hadn't heard it in at least a year, so I guess I'm getting her started on the right track!

Josh Brown isn't traditional country, but I like it just the same. I heard a new on last night -- something about "I'm more country than that". Really liked it. Jamey Johnson is also a great new "oldie". First time I heard him I had to listen to the whole CD twice in a row.

For me, it's the story as much as the sound.

Don't get me started on some of that other new junk they try to pass off as music.

There used to both Country and Western music. Then somehow it merged together.
They lost me when they started playing my 1950's R&R as country music. The KING as COUNTRY? The Everly Brothers? Why not Chuck Barry while your at it.
Today all you need to be country isn't a sound just a cowboy hat.

A few years ago the bar my sister-in-law worked had a blues band one weekend. All the regulars kept yelling for country western. During their first break the band and I and the owner were in the backroom talking. One of the band members said they didn't know any country, I took my hat off and told him to wear it. The crowd started applauding and they were all happy now that the blues band was playing 'country western'!

Remember the Blues Brothers movie?

"Yeah, we play both kinds. Country AND Western."

Now that was a funny line!

Hank Williams III has been accused of being a racist because he had the confederate flag as a backdrop on a photograph!

I'll do my best to keep my son away from his rubbish. His Eyehategod crap will never enter my home.

You must have him confused with someone else. Eyehategod is a metal band from Lousiana

Think ol Waylon summed it up when asked why he didn't put out a new album anymore and he stated:

hoss if it ain't got bubble gum stuck to it, they're not gonna play it!

Hank III stands for what real country is today. Nothing good has come out of Trashville lately, and you can keep that feel good, fake, pop country. Wake up!

I have to disagree, I had never heard any of his music til this thread. I checked out all the you tube stuff on him and listened to about 5 of his songs, that was about 5 too many... He even says in his interview that he is rock n roll. In my opinion, he is neither. That crap he's spewing isn't "music" of any kind as far as I'm concerned.
