water n my boots water n my boots trapper Registered: 04/13/08 Posts: 379 Loc: Good Ole West Virginia	Did yall have any luck with bobcats this year??? anybody catch any otter???if you catch one in a 330 do you have to report it???is it even legal??? Did you hear about the state stocking fishers???Neat huh?? At the last trapper meeting it wasn't just me, nobody had much luck with any species- cat, fox, coyote, a slow year all over. Yes we have fishers. neighbor got one on a trail cam. I'll be concentrating on it this fall. What part of WV you from Water? _________________________ God may not give us want we want, but He always gives us what we need

I usually catch a lot of them in traps and with the dog, but it was really slow this year. Some say it was due to rabies and others say distemper, I don't know, but there were a lot fewer than in years past. _________________________ God may not give us want we want, but He always gives us what we need

I tried hawbaker's one year and didn't have much luck with it, but we had bad weather that year, a lot of ice and I couldn't keep my traps from freezing down. wildWV wildWV trapper Registered: 01/01/07 Posts: 549 Loc: Fort Ashby WV	I live in Mineral co. we seem to have plenty of fisher in and around the area, mineral and grant co are supposed to have the best populations in WV.I have seen alot that have been trapped at the local fur dealer as well as mounted a few that some friends have trapped.This is the first turkey season in about five years that I have not seen one while gobbler hunting.

cathryn cathryn trapper Registered: 12/22/06 Posts: 7084 Loc: West Virginia	its illegal to trap otter in WV and yes you are suposed to turn them in even as incidental catches to the DNR. there are coon in wv but you have to work for them access can be a big problem in trapping coon in wv.this past season we came across pockets of coon and some places where there werent any. we trapped in mason county over at Chief Cornstalk WMA and had more success with catching possum there than coon. i suspect that is because of the high number of coon hunters who hunt Cheif Cornstalk. the guys right about over near Franklin not having many this season.i got a couple friends there and they didnt have any luck with coon this season. we picked up a coon that had rabies in Sugar Grove that tested positive through the USDA for rabies in the beggining of april.. , not sure if that had anything to do with the population in Franklin though. _________________________ Mem.
