Get quite a few pms on how I set my Lil Grizz. Not trapping anymore this year but was outside with the wife today so thought I'd take a few minutes to show all those people who ask me.

As always, this is not the right way, wrong way, or the only way. This is just what I have found works best for me thru trial and error.

I'm sure there are other good ways also.

So the lil grizz does NOT need to be flush to the ground andy?? Im going to pick me up a dozen or two of these traps for next season, they look like a real nice trap! Thanks for the all your videos and this one also!!

Nope just stick them in "excatly" like I showed.

If the ground isn't frozen I like to give them a little turn to really lock them in. If the ground is frozen just step on the slit like I showed.

Also, IF I was actually trapping I would take a broom and brush away the leaves. Set the trap right in the middle of the bare spot. Really stands out then, like a pop can shinning on the bare ground. Coon are very curious, you get their attention and they're as good as skinned.

Andy, I wouldn't it be better to stick with the marshmallows in the trap and keep the fish smells on the outside of the trap so cats won't get caught? It must be tough releasing them from the griz traps and going by your pigeon post I'm sure you wouldn't want to do anything to harm a critter that could potentially be someones pet.

Only caught a few feral cats in them and they were easy to release. Just put the catch pole on em and squeeze down the spring with my other hand. The griz don't need any setters so I can "easily" release them with one hand while holding the pole with the other.

Also since their foot is just snugged up in the wire, and not in between jaws so to speak I can release them all without any damage \:\)

i had a very upset cat attached to my arm once, i didn't like it! he was real calm at first, pretty misleading. I don't think i have ever seen an animal that crazy!
