As you can see I went from the heels to the groin, but the leg cut met above the vent. I then made a V around that vent to the tail.

I'm wondering if this is proper, or if you should go from heels-to-vent, with a straight line below the vent to the tail? Should there be a V at all, is my question? Or a T with the vent being at the center top of the T.

I'm no expert, but I go from heel to heel maybe an inch above the anus. then down the middle of the the tail an v cutting close to each side of the anus. What you did is right, I probably would have cut across a bit higher. With a grinner, it probably doesn't make too much difference. But with a coon you can loose a couple of inches of length and make a big difference in price if you cut under the anus.

Thanks for the replies! My book Raw Fur Handling At It's Best by Keith Winkler says "cut along hair line." I assumed by that he meant where belly fur meets back fur, but I didn't see a hair line!
