i use pollyfill when its dry. NO PROBLEMS, works great.

switched over to wax paper as suggested to me, now that its WET.

polyfill has a tendancy to freeze up, and dirt claudes attach to the polyfill...kinda makes me nervous. perhaps why i missed a cat the other day. when i remade the set, i used wax paper.

I use polyfill or cotton most of the time when i dont run off and leave it, Leaves and grass when i do. I dont "usually" have to worry bout the set getting wet then freezeing but the soil around here will get wet or damp and then dry hard as a rock unless i use troll dirt. I never liked pan covers for some reason but its been years since i used any.

I've been a tp user for decades and this year I went to polyfil. I do not like it. I had a lot of refusals and traps that didn't fire. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary so I'm pretty sure that its the polyfil. I have been mentoring a 79 year old and he came up with a great alternative. Dry, eyeglass sheets. You can get them in the square or the rectangle. They are tough, quiet, and easy to work with. I will start out using them next year. Anyone else use these?

I run pollyfill under all my pans. Very cheap and works real well for me. Use just enough to go under the pan and not be wadded tight. The amount i use does not affect the tension on the trap in anyway. Just enough to keep the dirt out.

Poly fil unless in real sandy condition's, then i'll use some type of pan cover, don't really have a preference, wax paper, brown paper bag, coffee filters, waxed hamburger patty papers, cup cake paper, etc. Have been known to use a sandwich bag when in a jam, lol.

Made the switch to poly this season...no complaints. I like it better than waxed paper.

CharlesKS.....

Put a sheet of waxed paper in the very bottom of your trapbed. Cover the whole bottom, after you've put the anchor/stake in the ground. Then dry dirt or ?? and make the trap bed as you usually do.

That will keep the moisture in the ground from moving up and down, through the trapbed, and your pan cover or ?? won't get full of moisture and freeze.

It doesn't have to rain to get moisture "moving", just the temperature in the ground can cause the set to freeze up.

It's called "Moisture Barrier".... IT WORKS ! \:\) \:\) \:\)
