Recently I posted the results of my 2007 Mega Mouse Roundup ... 146 mice in 3 days - * here's the link if you missed it ... http://www.trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/235105/page/0/fpart/1

Well, I got to thinking ... you just haven't completed the full circle of being a trapper 'til you start skinnin and stretchin mice! lol

First you have to make yourself a custom mouse size skinning gambrel & stretchers. Preferably wood stretchers cause everybody knows mice look better put up on wood! lol

You need to make your opening "money cut" before hangin on gambrel

Circle cut around the ankles and proceed pulling/peeling the hide off ... being careful not to rip the skin ...

When you get to the front legs carefully work the skin down and gently pull through without having to cut ... proceed down to the ears and cut ... keeping it close to the skull ... down to eyes being careful to avoid oversized/cut eyes ... finishing up at the nose

Now you have skinned a mouse! \:\)

Pull the hide onto your stretcher ... I think I'm gonna have to redesign my boards ... maybe adjustable ones!?! lol \:\)

One of the BEST posts ever!

Once got 84 in a few days, with only 4 traps!
As soon as one got caught, the others would start eating on it!
Then I bought a couple cases of DCON!

Place smelled HORRIBLE for about 6 months.

Can I get enough to put together a fur coat for my cats, please.?
They get cold during the winter and another fur coat might help.

Possum, you'll get more money for those if you'd use wire instead of wood.

I see you still pull hides by hand. Might want to think about adding an electric winch hide puller to your operation. Makes the big tough ones go alot easier, and saves your back from all the tugging getting those hides off. \:D

OH NO! You forgot to put in a belly wedge. So much for that mouse, your never getting it off the stretcher. That'll hurt the pocket book.

Possum, LOL! I'm sick too, cause I have been toying with the idea of building a scale trappers cabin with mouse and vole pelts on the side as well a string of minature traps and snow shoes etc. Would anyone care less after the time I spent to build such a thing? Doubt it, but it has to be done. LMBO!

Creekman, that's a beautiful display you got here in your signature...though that is the largest box call I have ever seen! You could penatrate a mountain range with yelps from that bad boy, LOL!

Well, I'll be!

When I was a kid, dad told me, when he was a kid, he caught and skinned a mouse then used a pop sickle stick as a stretcher. I figured he was pulling my leg! Guess he was on the up and up.

Nice job, but I can not figure what type of knife you used. Perhaps an Exacto with a number 11 blade?

Have you tried skinning one open like a beaver? I see possibilities here for some real money at trapper's conventions.

Put together a few pelts, both open and cased. A little pamplet on the proper skinning and drying of the pelt. Maybe even go so far as to introduce a snare for mice. Or Bill Crum might make an RBG for mice.

You might be the next Bill Gates!
