P9R, Nope, I am going with a different guy. I think they have as many rotary-wing pilots there as we have Cub drivers.....!
Al, We will visit some time! Murdering a camel has never been high on my list, but its definitely something I have not done! An interesting concept!

That sounds like fun Pete...yeah the Aussies are fun people. When I ran dog tours with them this year...they wanted the "high adventure" trails/camps. 2 out of the 3 clients were not physically able to do the tough runs....but insisted, so we did them anyway. They certainly do respect Alaska conditions...already re-booked one for next year. Are you being "guided"...via a freind? Commercial guide? can you even do this with-out a guide? I would love to see out-back Austrailia...maybe one day because we are getting some very good Austrailia "connects" for possible future "vacation"(vacation around here means away from the dog yard!!! HA!!

I bought a guided hunt in NZ. Fairly pricey, but last year was a "good" fire year....
In Australia I will be staying with friends. One of these guys is a retired outfitter. The other two guided for him at times; and one of those guys is a professional 'roo shooter.
Jeff, the "Roo Dude," knows ALL the station owners and getting permission to hunt is not a problem. Most of my Aus hunting will be on private land.
When I get back, something better be on fire here in Alaska, cause I will be out of money!
By the way, W17 and Blister headed back south from Fairbanks this morning and should be back online soon.

Pete, the camel are on private property,my friends own, about 1,000,000, acres of sandy desert country in the back of beyond. Another thought is to run a trapping seminar next year so that trapping skills can be shared. What do you think ? Al
Ps. the camel hunt is mates rates,$00.00

Otterman, camel meat is very good eating and as a bonus the hump is very good for making poison baits.. In fact feeding trials with dingo's has shown that they prefer camel meat over roo, donkey, beef, mutton or horse.
And for your info anything beats a plate full of rabbit food (salad) Regards Al

PIF: We just got to Los Chancreage late yesterday and will be here for a few more days. Lots of stuff I have to do. You know how that goes.

White : Lots of places in Anc. that can treat that chancre problem. While waiting , stop at title wave and stock up for next winter. They have a whole bunch of new good stuff. First three isles on your right through main entrance.

a book store that sells new and used books, next to that hippie bean sprout and granola REI. I love going in REI and asking what gaitors are best for wolf hunting, or snowshoes and trapping.. It is usually hard to get service int here with a camo jacket on, which I wear just for the fun of it.

White, if you are bored, give me a PM and I can line you up with some beavers to show me how to skin. It usually takes me about 4 times of someone showing me for me to learn..

This is really the Ol' Blister, sitting in on White's computer, while he makes phone calls. I just HAVE to sing the praises of Title Wave Books - the new and used book sellers. I have had an account with them for a long time because I can send in boxes of our used (but still in good shape!) books and get credit for them. Lots of times I'll have enough paperback and/or hardcover credit that I don't even have to buy books! I love it.

Sounds like P9er is trying to get me into an aisle where my pacemaker will go into overdrive.
Lots of troublemakers on this morning I see. Yep Fish and I plan to hook up so I can take him to the doctor for that chancre problem.
Funny about REI. I do the same thing. Usually ask for snowshoes for trapping. All I get is blank stares and the occassional sneer from some Birkenstock wearing granola crunchers as they flee to their Volvo or Subaru with the bicycle on top. It's the best fun in Anchorage.

I love the idiots that come peddling in there on their $5000 bike, and go and grab a cliff bar.. I went withmy boss one day, he was looking for boots to wear in Namibia, and they lady asked if he was going to take pictures, he said he was going to shoot and elephant and a lion, she WALKED away, wouldn't even get him shoes. that was hilarious...
white, I take it you don't want to show me the proper way to skin beavers???

Ok, either fish and I had one too many Coors last night or I'm completely lost or both. What the heck is a "chancre problem"?

White : I picked that section of books knowing the topics that rev up your pace maker. O.B. is right. Best book store anywhere.
Hupurest: I guess we all have the same feeling at REI . Their computer topo dept. is good though. Can't beat it for mapping out the hunts or trapping spots. Just wish they would make it compatable with garmin.
Kusko : Can't believe you drink that panther p. As for the C, stop at ykhc and they can give you a phamplet.

I've got a spotted seal and sea otter hat that I'll have to take to Ancorage next time I go. That should really get them going. Does anyone know where I can get a spotted owl talon necklace for my wife to wear??

That's good, bearbait! Probably none of you would remember Jim McClure who used to be the U.S. Senator from Idaho. Some greenie asked him one time what we were doing to preserve the spotted owl in Idaho, and he replied: "We don't have spotted owls in Idaho; we shoot them at the border!"

"what we were doing to preserve the spotted owl in Idaho" He should have told them that they were usually canned with onions and mushrooms but sometimes frozen instead.

I was just looking at the Anch Daily News site and they finally have a short article about Lynn Keogh getting munched on by the brown bear.
The best part is that his buddy shot and killed the bear off of him with a .220 Swift! Now there is some precision shooting with a rifle smaller than your normal brownbear cannon!
Here is the link: http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/wildlife/story/8801784p-8703028c.html

Fish 222; Is the weather too bad for your better half to make it in ?
Bummer about the vehicle.
The visibility must have been pretty poor in BET if you fell on the way to the plane :-))
Man, taking a brown bear with a Swift is about like my trick with the paper bag on the wolverine.
