House bill 4497[2007]Introduced today 3/20/07 here's the link http://www.legislature.mi.gov/ I heard about it from the pres. of the M.T.A. on another site.IT is for real guy's.

Here's what we need to do as well:
While writing our reps, tell them we want the word “Trapping” added to House Joint Resolution A (HJR A).
Here is HJR A:
HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION A
January 22, 2007, Introduced by Rep. Hildenbrand and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Outdoor Recreation and Natural Resources.
A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the state
constitution of 1963, by adding section 27 to article I, to
recognize a right to hunt or fish for, and to harvest, game or
fish.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
state of Michigan, That the following amendment to the state
constitution of 1963, to recognize a right to hunt or fish for, and to harvest, game or fish, is proposed, agreed to, and submitted to the people of the state:
ARTICLE I
Sec. 27. Subject to conditions established by law and based on principles of scientific management of natural resources, the
people have the right to hunt or fish for, and to harvest, game or fish that are the property of the state and are held in the public trust.
Resolved further, That the foregoing amendment shall be
submitted to the people of the state at the next general election in the manner provided by law.
That would make trapping (as well as hunting and fishing) protected by the State Constitution. If and when HJR A becomes an amendment, without Trapping written in, we will be doomed to fight the Antis forever. If it’s written in, we’ll only have to deal with the occasional attempt to change the Constitution. Trapping will never get into the Constitution on it’s own; we’ll need the Hunters and Fishermen to help vote it in and I don’t think they will vote for trapping by itself.
