I hope it is appropriate to post this here.

There is a writing contest going on right now at Cathryn's Corner.

Write the best story....Win a Prize

It don't cost a dime to enter, and you might win a valuable prize. You caption 8 photos and turn them into a story.

Serious subjects of interest to writers are welcome here. For instance, contest announcements, discussions of potential markets for selling a work, or technical subjects about writing.

Contests are a great way for new writers to get a start. I got my own start by winning a contest some years back.
