red reishi mushrooms - 12/26/16 12:55 PM

I found hundreds of them on dead hemlock logs. They were past harvest. Any body know when the proper time to harvest them is and are there any look alikes that i need to worry about. I use chaga tea now but would like to use these red reishi as well.

Know nothing about Reshi,
But I have seen this;
Many of the edible mushroom guides warn abut Mushrooms growing on or around evergreen trees.
Something about the carbonaceous chemicals (Creosote) tendencies of the trees.

Word of advice;
No guesswork.
Be safe.

Happy trails for years to come.
