Planting ginseng? - 10/11/15 01:49 AM
I've read a couple books on it....and I think I have a decent place to plant.
How does this sound?
East facing, gentle slope, mostly tulip poplar timber, small creek 40-50 yds from slopes bottom...sloped area is bout 100 yds hi x 300 yds long.
Worth a shot or NOT?
That sounds like a pretty good place to me. Give it a shot!!!

I've been planting ginseng for about 7 years in different locations. The last two years I have been seeing beautiful three prong plants full of berries. I pulled the tops off leaving the roots alone, wanting to let the roots age a few more years. Planting now is something I enjoy very much.

Put the tiller to the woods yesterday .just beautiful dirt . It tilled up the dead branches nice ,I am more than happy with how it looks . Got to get some soil test done and see what it needs .
Going to plant what seeds I have , then get ready for fall planting .

You can still plant seed if the ground is not frozen.
I still have seed for sale if you need any.

How well does spring planting work? I have planted a couple pounds over the last 6 or seven years. The stuff the turkeys didn't tear up looked pretty decent last fall.
What does a pound cost these days Jeff?
