Agaricus Campestris AKA Field Mushrooms are up.

The field mushrooms finally started popping up today, on my farm. It's been really dry. If we get some rain, there should be a good Fall bloom.



There are still some wild grapes too. We cook them down an add a whole lot of water and sugar and make a juice that tastes similar to Welches Grape Juice. The wild grapes have all the flavor, they just lack the sugar and water. They are basically grape concentrate.


What Fall wild foods do you like?

havnt found any yet here.....usually start findin them here the 1st week in sept. its just too dang dry......wasn't a lot of honey mushrooms and the hens aint poppin either.

And THIS is why I'm scared to death to eat wild mushrooms. There is one that grows in the yard that looks just like those that everyone says is not edible.

those are nice and big and fresh, good color on the gills

We have field mushrooms in the yard right now and all over the farm. There are more popping up now then we can eat. The weather must be close to perfect for them.
