Hello everyone, I found these in the middle of a corn field last week and i'm not quite sure what they are. There was nothing else around, just corn stuble. Thanks.

Good to eat.
There has been progress made in the use of certain parts
of the pawpaw in the cure of certain cancers!

So to my understanding, it is a tree that produces the fruit? And from these seeds can I start the tree?

Correct..that is if the seeds are still viable.....could also be seeds from jack

pawpaw is also called the poor mans banana whyskers. in the late summer they produce a fruit that tastes like a banana custard. as mentioned the bark has a marketable value

Kris, do you know approximately how long it takes for the tree to produce the fruit?? I'm sure it takes a few years. But I do have good news on them. Two of them seeds have begun to "sprout" should I say, i'll get some pics posted here later. Once again thank you for all your help!!

It will take 5-8 years for the trees to begin bearing fruit. Here are a few links to more info:
