I have been Googling Sassafras recipies and wish to make Syrup.

Sassafras link.

My question is how to long term store extra root?

What has worked for you?

I just pretty much bag them up and store in the freezer......

Any tips on maybe drying it?
Was reading some on the net and seems the bark is where its at.
do you think air drying would work ok?

Sorry for the slow response can't seem to log in often??
New computer not sure what the prob is.

yqw!!, if I were to dry it, i'd prob cut it up into pieces to allow it to dry faster......depending on size ...roots about the thickness of your thumb i'd prob go 5-6 inches.....and bigger chunks 3-4.


put it on a screen so you get good air circulation in a shed....direct sunlight prob wont hurt it....but ya don't want it to get wet from dew or just in case a surprise rain storm kicks up.
