Any market for it? Which part do you sell? Some of the old folks around here like the roots to make tea out of in the spring.

when I have a market on them ,they are worth around a 1.00 a pound dry. No stems and no off colored leaves mixed into them.

ground sassafras leaves is file' gumbo, used here in the deep south by the oldtimers to add to their gumbo to thicken it, you add it to your plate once served, (not the pot full of gumbo) the leaves are dried and ground to a powder while still green, most people that make it here for sale bottle it in baby food jars. you can buy it at most convient store, feedstores, or country stores. a baby food jar full sells for about 2.00

I am buying sassafras leaf this year for $1.25 to $1.50/lb (depending on quality). The leaf must be dry and have little stem.
