ID help ,Wild onions ? - 05/12/13 02:52 AM

I took a couple of photos of theses wild onions??
These seem to reseed every spring.
As I will have them all used long before they are close to that.
So I believe the seed is blown in.

They are everywhere out along the main road .
Probably 2-3 miles of these scattered along the ditches.

Seem to be compairable to a mild garlic flavor.
When pulled they are the size of a pencil or smaller in Diameter and a small single bulb on bottom.

Wild onion ??
Wild garlic ??
Chives ??

As soon as I can resize I will post one.
Sorry didnt realise the need so gonna have to find a program to run them thru.

Exvellent table fair , for spring dishes.

stuff grows here on the side of the road, after rain people pick them and pickle in vinegar. pearl onions and they have a garlic smell and taste to them. we have to pull them after rain so the bulb comes out the soft wet ground

yep we call em wild onion round here too but technically garlic. you can transplant them into pea gravel and keep inside for a while. they like a lot of drainage but water em twice a day if inside.
