Dryad's Saddle mushrooms ID ??

Dryad's Saddle mushrooms ID ?? - 09/26/11 05:09 PM

These are currently growing in my sisters lawn . Under a maple tree.
Is this a correct ID?
Everything I am reading shows them on tree trunks , ect.
Could possibly be a root exposed underneath them.
Also they all quote it as a spring mushroom. These are freshly grown.

It looks like them, but I have never scene them in the fall. I have also never scene them grow on the ground. If you cut them they should smell like watermelon rind.

I have ate them a few times and trust me they are not very good. Certinly not good enough to get sick over.

Your id is correct...I'm sure there is a dead root/ or piece of wood under ground were its at. I find them all times of the year.
