LDC without skunk - 02/24/24 08:00 PM

What can i use? I don't want to use skunk. Any recommendations? I will use it for marten trapping. My other lures work well and contains castor and sweet smelling oils, but I don't feel they have the characteristics of LDC. especially in cold weather. Any tips?

Rotten eggs, rotten meat, rotted down beaver tail produces an oil that some use. Others use horse hoof trimmings rotted down.
Slim Pederson talked about using minty smelling lures for a LDC. Hope this helps

You could possibly try white musk or canton musk for a strong, lasting cold weather call odor. I dont know how attractive those are to marten.

Civet musk has worked for me in the past. Less repulsive than skunk !

Set on sign there is zero reason to use a LDC .

Castor carries well and is long lasting.

Most stuff in the mint family carries well.

Anise is another powerful, far reaching smell. Don’t know how appealing mints and anise would be to marten though.

Curiousity at best?

Shellfish oil has a real punch to it.

Sun rendered fish oil, the rank grey watery juice!

Mink or weasel gland mix with castor anisette and fish oil.

Anise works good for marten and fisher
