banana lure base - 10/28/13 03:31 AM

I picked up some banana and anise extract from the store today... wanted to use it in a coon lure. what type of base would you use for this lure? I want it kind of thick but would also like the option of using it as a trailing scent or squirting into dps. any insight would be great

probly Nay I usually smear the bannana paste right behind the trigger on the floor of the live trap and sprinkle the cat food over it. What I was refering to when I stated when I have some on hand is when I have time to go to mom's or one of my friends who has cats and bum some dried cat food off of them LOL and Iv caught just as many skunks with out the catfood as with it so Im really not sure it makes any difference other than offer the skunks a last meal

Maxwell, didn't mean to hijack your post.
If you can't get the fruit paste try mixing with cooked oatmeal, rice or maybe applesauce or a combo you will have to freeze proof it I would think, put the mix In a half of a egg shell if using cages.
Just some ideas but I'm far from an expert.

Trailing scent try mixing w syrup..

I make both a banana bait and a Banana lure. ADC folks buy the heck out of them. I also have Banana in formulation as a second or side note and the trappers buy the heck out of them. They both work in fur or ADC but we as humans in our perfections, think that there is a difference LOL The question is do you want the banana as the main note or is it a side note. If you put it in a fruit base then the banana will be a side or secondary note. works great. If you want it as first note or main note then something like a glycerin or mineral oil. Also you have to ask your self do you want it to be a taste or smell formulation as that will be dictate what type of base you use.
