Have any of you had a Basil cell carcinoma or any other type of skin cancer treated or removed?

Hi I'm new to forum and have lots to learn . However I have first hand experience with bassil skin cancer . It's a slow mover but left alone can become issue . Anyone who has a spot on skin that flakes and bleeds never really healing should see dermatology doc ASAP . Don't get any radiation treatment if they suspect it's in soft tissue this will make future treatment not so easy . Moes surgery is best that's not how it's spelled but quick search will show correct spelling . Sun block , sun block Good luck

I have had melanoma removed. Didnt require any treatment, just cutting it out and making sure the borders are clear.

I had removed basal cell cancer.

Found an over the counter product that will clear up non melanoma skin cancers. Curaderm is an eggplant extract with Saliyclic Acid and Urea. Apply it topically and cover with medical tape. It flags the cancer cells for your immune system to attack and get rid of them. It works! It kills the cancer cells and leaves the healthy cells alone. About $145 for a small tube but a little goes a long way and much cheaper than multiple doctor visits.

It would be great if an over the counter treatment would work to rid you of skin cancers, but I would be very suspicious of the manufacturer's claims. In many cases it takes a dermatologist, a biopsy, and lab test to confirm if a spot is actually cancer or not and tell you when it has been completely removed i.e. clear margins.

Yeah, I don't know how a person would know they had Basal Cell without a biopsy and then if you did find out you had a spot that was Basal Cell but did not have Mohs or it cut out and used the topical. How would you ever know the topical removed all the cancer underneath the skin. Believe me, it can run deep.

Is skin cancer mostly caused by sunburns as a child, or is it more from repeated sun exposure over a persons lifetime?

I would say a bit of both, but repeated sun exposure without sunscreen is by far going to up the odds of getting it.

My dermatologist tells me I am paying the price now for excessive unprotected sun exposure and damage all of my life. I have had numerous basil cell and squamous cell skin cancer removals, sugeries, freezes, etc. They check me over good every 6 months. Florida sun is intense.

I had a basal cell on the bridge of my nose about ten years ago. Looked like a big pimple with a white head. They cut out a big football shaped chunk of skin and meat and sewed it up. I get checked annually. I’ve had a lot of pre-cancerous things cut or frozen off since then.

I hear of more & more people going to a dermotologist these days to get a precautionary inspection. Probably not a bad idea.

I like to wear a hat with a 360° brim. It really helps keep the ears and neck from unnecessary sun exposure.
