how many skunks from under one house

I have taken five skunks from under one house in the course of a week. I'm using a comstock but leaving the door facing outside closed in an effort only to catch those coming out. I have switched to a one way door and a camera. Anyone have this many critters camped out for a week? I have checked the home perimeter and there are not other holes where they could enter.

I suspect 4, if not all 5 were males? The female is content to stay denned up and doesn't seem to come out until the males stop coming. I've had males climb over, dig under, or push the traps aside, and then get caught coming out anyway. So, I set for both directions. Quite often there are a couple males under the house with her, resulting in the spraying, due to fighting, or perhaps she may spray if not ready to breed.
So, I'm not sure how many I've caught just coming out, but have caught 16 males, plus the female at one job. I think I've had 2 females on two occasions in 25 years. Once the female is out, you may still get a few males investigating, but they won't stick around.

You need to gang set locations like that. Cover exiting animals and entries.

Its prime breeding season now in these parts. Using one-way doors funneled into multiple traps or have a large holding pen cage that can hold multiple catches at once. Some of these set ups using a comstock single catch or other type single catch traps aren't the best choice when you realize multiple catches are likely.

I have set 8 traps many times both for in and out animals. Left them in place a couple weeks. I have caught 6 in one night. Then nothing for days, then 3 more etc.

Buddy here caught 23 from one old house ....rotten hole in garage ....a few years back

We should be going into it in another week or 2 here. It’s warm enough that they could be starting early.

I enjoy baited traps during breeding season. The trap with the skunk that has all the digging around it is the female. Save the Comstock's until after the breeding season is done. One way doors work ok also, but I typically catch the female any way.

I set up a job on Feb 10. Caught 12 skunks coming and going in first week , all male. I finally pulled the traps yesterday. First time I can remember not getting a female after all those males. I find it hard to believe that she isn't under the deck, but maybe she left her pheromones and was gone before I set up.

Set up another a few days later and have only caught a female, on day 10, going in. That has never happened before either.
