Do skunk & possums go dormant in the winter. It seems like I don't see 'em once it gets cold out. And it sure is cold here.

Here's some good information on Wisconsin skunks.

Opossums, skunks, raccoons, chipmunks, are semi-hibernators. Woodchucks and bears and maybe badgers are true hibernators. As cold as it stays in Wisconsin, you don't see many of the above animals running around in winter. They are all waiting for global warming just like we are. This leaves us with squirrels, rodents, birds, and wascally wabbits.

Skunks, opossums and coon are semi hibernating mammals in our region. During extremely cold temps and bad weather they dont move much. When you get a slight warming trend they will become active once again and so on thru out the winter.
