What is the best bait for trapping a porcupine this time of year?

The wood handle of your ax/hammer etc! LOL Somebody once told me a chunk of cucumber with salt works good.

I'd bet salty is the key. I've seen them chew PVC lattice for salt. I caught one this year off a marshmallow smeared with Coon Candy. I can't explain it any better than the cat caught off a glazed chocolate donut.
