Albino Raccoon - 05/25/16 11:21 AM
Was lucky enough to catch one on Monday. Anyone else ever catch one?
I don't know how to post pics to this site but here is a link to my facebook page where there is a picture

That's pretty cool. I've never seen one.

Not to rain on your parade, but,if,you can see a faint mask,on the coon's face and faint stripes around its tail,it is a leucistic color phase and not a true albino, which would be completely white, with pink eyes. Good Luck!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LeucismThis is a leucistic coon, also, but,it is incorrectly identified as an albino coon.

My parade is all wet. Thought I had something there.
That is interesting, and thank you for the clarification. I noticed the story you linked to raccoon was in Chicago. Chicago is a big place but mine was caught minutes from the south side.

I have a mounted female leucistic coon, that I caught in 1994,I caught over 1,500 coons that season, just to catch that one. Though, they are not true albinos, they do have some value,on the taxidermy market, since, they are somewhat rare and make unusual mounts. Good Luck!

No salvage allowed under a nuisance license in IL. I am ok with that 99.99% of the time. Little twinge of regret with this one. A mount would have been cool.

That's not leucistic, look at its eyes! Anyone can clearly see that's a zombie raccoon.

Maybe a college or museum would have the permits to mount it.
