I need some tips

I need some tips on getting coyotes now that it is spring here in North Dakota. The lady is having a problem with coyotes killing here chickens so do I use a dead chicken as bait or should I tie up a live one?

Urine on a tuft of grass, Dirt hole nearby with maybe a few chicken feathers in hole...
