Has anyone used colony traps for barn rats? Do you think it would or wouldn't work, either baiting them or putting them along a wall?


Would #1 and #1.5 coil springs work fine? What about bodygrips, do BMI 115s work? I see they sell a 55 BG, but I haven't bought any yet.

Just curious if I can use my mink traps for rats

I like to use 1 1/2 long spring traps. I use the ones with weak springs. Then I set the trap in the area where the rats are using. I sprinkle shelled corn, dry cat or dog food around the traps. Both inside and outside the jaws. When the rats come to feed, it is all over for the rat. Besure and wire the traps to something solid.

I have plenty of 1.5s, so I'm set there.

110s and 115s (5"x5") bodygrips work fine for them too? Looking forward to trying them

I've used 0's and #1's to great effect, much easier to get into a tight squeeze.
