I got 1/2 million yesterday!!!!!!

Ha got ya!!!!! You thought I got a $500,000 job didn't you! Nope, I hit a half million on my truck!

Its been a good one. I got to thinking how much work its done and I felt pretty good. Then I got to thinking how much money has gone through it in fuel and maintenance. Still feeling ok, cause it kept me making money. Then I thought about how much money the government has charged me for the privilege of keeping it on the road so I can contribute my confiscatory income tax and my mood turned sour.

Now these are rough estimates and probably a little low but here goes.

Sales tax title transfer when purchased $2,000 +/-
Tax on fuel used $16,000 +/-
Sales tax on Maintenance $2,400 +/-
Tolls and parking $250 +/-
Tags and Registration $1,125 +/-

Add in a little fudge cause I'm sure I missed some stuff and you get close to $22,000.

I got to thinking and recall that I bought this truck used. The original owner also paid sales tax when he bought it, and he paid almost $4000 in sales tax. I'm not going to try to estimate the additional taxes he paid on maintenance, etc, but my old truck has been a dang good money maker for our good old government!!!!!! $26,000 and still going!!!!

Crap, I just realized my truck has generated more in taxes than I paid for it!

I think someone has too much free time on their hands.:)

Congratulations! The closest I got was 450,000 on a 6 cylinder Chevy van. ( My first ADC vehicle )

What's a toll? I thought those little guys who hid under bridges and then jump out and make you pay were trolls!

Run, I'm pretty sure the tolls are accurate because I have only driven once or twice on a toll road. I have to drive about 100 miles just to find a toll road. Most of that is parking.
