Moles?

Moles? - 06/14/15 03:05 AM

So while I was at a beaver job the clients asked if I trap moles. I said no. I advised them to use the 1 local pest guy. They said he showed up then told them he don't do moles. Now I kind of feel bad for them as they don't have another person to call. I have a victor gopher trap and that's all. I was thinking of setting it to see if I can get some for them while setting and checking the beaver traps. They are paying me hourly so I wouldn't be losing money but I'm concerned that I have one trap and no experience so I'm not sure if I'd've doing them good or harm. What do you guys think? Should I or shouldn't I?

This also got me thinking that I need to get into moles smile what are the best mole traps to be using?
Thanks once again

Where in Wyoming are you finding moles? The only mole species known from Wyoming is the Eastern Mole, and it's only found in the southeast corner of the state. You might want to check the client's property to see what he has. It may be gophers, or maybe he meant voles.

Start with these.

Decide if its gophers or moles.

Use appropriate type of traps.

Give them a deal, gain experience, have a new profitable, easy service

I suspect it is gophers. As I know that is usually what people have a problem with here. We do have a lot of voles but I'm sure it's gophers. She said it was taking her lupine under one day when she walked out there. I will continue my research. I hope I can catch some while getting the beaver. It won't really cost them anything that way and will make a happy client.

I did my first gopher job this year and love the work. I hope to be doing it as a primary service

I'm excited to give it a try. We have lots of high end houses that have nice yards. I imagine there is a good chance to make money on gophers, ground squirrels, and voles

I self taught on O/S and spear type traps and experimented with other types over the years. Now I am primarily Albano traps.

X2
Albano traps are great , except when you get the loose dry dirt , but a spray bottle of water works good for that.

Jeff
Why do Steve A traps fail in soft dry dirt? What happens?

The tunnel wants to keep collapsing on top of the trap and that keeps it from operating properly.
