cable restraints for mink - 06/13/15 01:19 AM

Hi all at Trapperman

is there anyone using cable restraints on mink im looking into pocket hole sets with loaded snares dry land not in the water.

we cant use drown sets in uk so im interested to hear others ideas on set that are non lethal but affective with snares.

also im interested in set ups locks and concepts of swivels and such to combat the spinning and rolling.

im not new to snaring but the cable restraints i have only run for a few years on fox. this winter i will be looking at cable restraining mink without killing. i would like to hear views and opinions of any experienced minkers doing this.

I've never used cable restraints on mink but if you want to catch mink alive, I've caught them in cages on purpose quite a few times.

In the UK the lock needs to be relaxing.

Well we certainly don't catch close to the amount that we did when fur trapping. Most of the calls for mink are from people who raise

chickens or people who have koi ponds. I have never snared a mink and I doubt that I would even try. Knowing the shape of a mink,

keeping one in a cable restraint seems like a difficult thing to do. We are allowed to use a number of devices that are much more

effective.

old-evil- For advice on snaring mink, contact Newt at http://snareone.com/catalog.html .

Also check CLICK HERE . Newt will answer PM when he has time. I don't recall him ever discussing "live snaring" mink, but he may have.

thank you all, i have picked quit a challenging task i know that, i dont have problems snaring the mink i have snared them no problems,im trying to work out a better system, i will update you all on this when season gets going.. i do control them all year round but im doing some larger waters this winter i have decided to try and use the season as a tester for restraining along with cages, fenn mk 6 in tunnels, and bodygrips.110's not licensed for mink here so it 120 onieda and a model called 116 by butera bmi plus a couple of others.

there are other traps but these are my main choice on kill sets in uk.. we dont do drowner sets or footholds. snaring is allowed still but its going to be outlawed by law changes soon enough... that is if restraints dont take over on mink

thanks to everyone for responding, i will post some things for you all to look at in the future with regards to cable restraining mink,i will give it a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) good testing and see if i can do it any sense myself..thanks for the links ron i hear newt is a great snareman i have not seen any of his posts or video but i know he did some dvds, i did sign up to snareone forum but its said awaiting moderator approval, i might re check today.

thanks again to all
