Bee old timers

Wondering if any remember the name Walter d leverette from fla./ga areas. He ran over 900 hives in the 70s and 80s.
He had a giant mom and pop operation.

Actually Walter D Leverette was my great Grandfather. He owned over 1900 hives in Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The apiary he owned actually burnt down in the 80's. My Grandmother and Granduncle worked with Leverette. My Grandmother stuck sticks in hot wax and stuck them onto a sheet and put queen eggs into the hardened wax to make new queens and then sold these new queens to Australia. Warren Leverette, Walter's brother was a bee inspector for the state of Georgia.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in awhile. WaiteWut, thanks for the info. I knew the name only from different articles in Bee Culture and other publications. That was back in the golden age of beekeeping, pre mites.

Warrior, coincidentally I am doing a report on the loss of Bees (42.5%) and I called my grandparents the day before I posted all of that, so it was really ironic and surprising to see someone ask about Mr. Leverrette. Do you have any old articles with him in it? I have asked my Granduncle for them but he has no clue where they are.

Sadly, no. When I got out of bees when I went into the service all my books and magazines got gone.
Sure wish I had them back. I recently found out that my first book by Richard Taylor is fetching collectors prices.
